Pulmonary nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) disease is a chronic, progressive pulmonary disease caused by low virulent mycobacteria. we performed the first nationwide hospital-based survey in Japan, which revealed that the incidence rate of pulmonary NTM disease exceeded that of tuberculosis. We also conducted the GWAS for pulmonary NTM disease. By a collaboration with a Korean research team and an U.S. research team, this SNP also showed a significant association in both the Korean population. Based on our growing international collaborative framework, wwe established the “NTM Host Research Consortium”. By taking advantage of this networking opportunity, we aim to gain a global initiative for International Collaborative Genome Cohort of pulmonary NTM disease.
